I am currently in the process of researching different continuous lighting kits. I want to purchase one, but I can’t decide whether I want softboxes or umbrellas, although both do pretty much the same thing (diffusing light). Any suggestions or helpful tips anyone can give me?

I’ve been considering off camera lighting too. Just started researching but if I hear of anything that sounds good I’ll let you know. Somehow I suspect you’ll find the right kit before I will.

Thanks Dave! I found a website that offers inexpensive lighting solutions and kits based out of Texas. It is http://www.cowboystudio.com. I am thinking about an umbrella kit from them to get started! Hope all is well!

I’ve heard of them even up here in the great white north. I still haven’t bought mine yet. I need something very mobile so I’m considering flash units on stands with soft boxes.
